Course Title: 10 Hour Worker SST Training Course


Course Length: 10 contact hours of instructional time, excluding breaks and meals


CEU: 1.0 CEU


Prerequisites: there are no prerequisites for this course.


Course outline: These courses are in full compliance with the general training school accreditation procedures, standards and requirements set forth and curriculum requirements of NYC DOB standards and regulations. These courses are prescribed courses that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety-Training Card. These are awareness-level training only and do not provide any other qualifications or authorization outside of the site safety-training card.


Audience: This class is for education, the experienced construction worker, supervisor and anyone that desires an awareness of health and safety in the construction field. This course is a prescribed SST course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a site safety-training card.


Course description: In order to continue to operate in the City of New York, the designated construction worker is required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training and to carry site safety identification cards as proof of completion of the training (As per New York City Local Law 196 of 2017 also known as ‘LL196’ or ‘Local Law’).


8-Hour Fall Prevention SST Course:

Learning Objectives: Each trainee will be able to:

• become generally familiar with terms associated with fall hazards and controls in the construction industry as they pertain to construction in New York City.

• recognize and avoid fall hazards and prevent fall-related incidents from occurring or causing harm.

• learn responsible and accountabilities of various people on a construction site.

• aware of regulatory safety requirements associated with falls.

• learn how to make informed decisions when working at heights.


2 Hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness:

Learning Objectives: Each trainee will be able to:

•      Generally, define illicit use of drugs & alcohol in workplaces

•      Describe the adverse effects & impacts of drug & alcohol in the construction industry

•      Communicate the importance of prevention & control of drugs & alcohol in the workplace

•      Recognize how to prevent & control use of drugs & alcohol in the workplace & not become a statistic

•      Identify problems associated with substance dependency

•      Be aware of the adverse effects of chemical dependence of the lives of others you may know or love
